Stem Cells & Reprogramming Laboratory
For high school students interested in iPS cells
Our group studies epigenetic mechanisms regulating early embryogenesis and germline development in vitro using pluripotent stem cells, such as mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and human iPS cells, which retain the ability to differentiate into a variety of somatic cells, as model systems.
In the classes, we talk about the history of stem cell research to date and recent applications of stem cells, from the basic to the applied.
In practical courses, we introduce many techniques for investigating the properties of stem cells.
If you have the opportunity to visit Toho University on a campus tour, you may be able to see the laboratories and cultured cells.
Please find something fun that fits you at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Toho University.

We have been selected for the Toho University Grant for Research Initiative Programme 2022, TUGRIP!
TUGRIP is a programme that promotes academic research activities conducted jointly by researchers working at the University across faculties and graduate schools. Each year, one research project is selected that has been assessed as contributing to the branding of Toho University. A page introducing the research projects and their progress is currently being prepared.
Masako Tada offers a diverse range of experimental courses and hands-on workshops using mammalian and chicken cells.
